Stage 6 in the Tour de Suisse takes the riders in 162.8 kilometres from Weesen to Amden. That could have been 9 kilometres, as that is the distance between departure and arrival town. In fact, those 9 kilometres are the finale. And they are marked by an average gradient at around 10%...

At the border of Lake Walen and surrounded by vineyards Weesen is the starting point of stage 6 in the Tour de Suisse. The arrival is 9 kilometres up the hill, but before hitting the steep slopes the pack rides a large loop via Lake Zürich and Lake Lucerne.

After leaving Weesen a long not too steep climb begins with around 25 kilometres done, eventually taking the riders to the Obersee, or the ‘Upper Lake’ of Lake Zürich. Then it’s off to Lake Lucerne, which is covered for the entire eastern shore until Altdorf. There the climbing gets serious.

In 26.1 kilometres the riders climb up the Klausen Pass, peaking at 1,952 metres the highest point of the day. The average gradient at the sheer endless slopes is 5.6%.

A long descent and a flat section at 15 kilometres take the riders back to Weesen, or the beginning of the closing climb up to Amden. In 9 kilometres the gain is 839 metres, meaning an average gradient of 9.3%.

At the line, time bonuses at 10, 6 and 4 seconds lay waiting, while intermediate sprints come with 3, 2 and 1 seconds each.
