Anpu's Graduation From UCL | A Tamil Family's Journey
It was my graduation from UCL and my parents could not be prouder. However, I'm extremely proud of them for overcoming so many barriers in life. This graduation marks a special moment in my family's journey as I'm the last in the family to graduate. My parents have watched us grow into adults. My mother is an inspiration to me, because even though her education was severely disrupted due to the violent war in Sri Lanka, she still managed to continue progressing. At the age of 51, she achieved a B grade in Maths GCSE and two diplomas in Health and Social Care and Information Technology. I dedicate this video to my mother, father and my two loving siblings.
It was also special to wear a verti to my graduation. A verti, also known as dhoti, panche, vesti, dhuti, mardani, chaadra, dhotar or panchey, is a traditional men's garment worn in the Indian subcontinent.
